Masters of German Art is a series of ten-minute programmes examining some of the greatest names in the history of German painting. From Caspar David Friedrich to Lucas Cranach, from Johann Tischbein to Käthe Kollwitz – these miniportraits offer an insight into the unique character of each artist’s work and an understanding of the context in which it was created. In his ten films, Reiner E. Moritz visits galleries throughout Germany, as well as including contributions from leading art historians and drawing on interesting archive documentation.
