Ronald Hynd’s three act ballet “The Merry Widow” to the music of Franz Lehár is an exciting studio production, performed by the superb National Ballet of Canada. The Australian dancer John Meehan gives an outstanding performance in the role of Count Danilo, who is ordered by the Pontevedrian Embassy to avert their impending bankruptcy by marrying into the fortunes of the recently widowed Hanna Glawari – beautifully portrayed by the Canadian prima ballerina Karen Kain. Raymond Smith dances the part of the French attaché, Camille, who falls madly in love with the Ambassador’s wife, Valencienne (Yoko Ichino).
