Those of you who did not have the opportunity to listen to our first releases can do so at length tonight. For one whole hour Julia Neupert, music editor of SWR2 radio station presents sections from the first five productions. Lots of music – few words.

Gerard Dugelay has chosen four days in May to introduce jazzhaus on his internet radio program Jericho Metz

Monday May 7th at 4pm (CET)

Friday May 11th at 3 am

Saturday May 12th at 9pm

SundaY May 13th at 2pm

On June 27th at 3 pm Julia Neupert talks to label producer Ulli Pfau in detail on the backgrounds of jazzhaus (again on radio station SWR2).

During the summer and autumn we expect a number of new releases at jazzhaus – including some surprises. Look forward to the Masters of Cool Jazz (Chet Baker, Zoots Sims), German “Legends” (Albert Mangelsdorff) and the new series with extraordinary often forgotten studio recordings from Baden Baden and Mainz. We shall keep you informed.

Screening of Fidelio at the Deutsche Oper Berlin on 12 March 2012 at 07:30pm

March 2nd, 2012

The Deutsche Oper Berlin had originally opened on 7 November 1912 under the title of Deutsches Opernhaus. Thus it was Beethoven’s Fidelio that featured at the opening of the Deutsches Opernhaus in 1912 – and it was also chosen for the anniversary concert on 7th November 1962 that is documented in this DVD. The Performance will be available on DVD for the first time.

In cooperation with Arthaus Musik the Deutsche Oper Berlin organized a screening of the carefully restored recording of Fidelio on 12 March 2012 at 07:30pm.

The production was in the hands of theatre director Gustav Rudolf Sellner and his chief set designer Wilhelm Reinking. Special care was taken in selecting the cast for the anniversary performance. For the four main roles, singers were chosen who already had international experience but were still fresh and vigorous. Featuring Christa Ludwig (Leonore), James King (Florestan) and Walter Berry (Don Pizarro). The orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin was conducted by Artur Rother.

After publishing Mozarts Don Giovanni, the opening performance of the Deutsche Oper on 24 September 1961, this is the second historical recording from the Deutsche Oper Berlin. It is the beginning of a new edition including TV recordings of the years 1961 to 1987 which were never released on DVD before.
